Cocktail fan? These 61 bars were just named among the world’s best Cocktail fan? These 61 bars were just named among the world’s best
While wine tourism has been around for decades, it’s only in recent years that travel in pursuit of other kinds of beverages has really taken off (and no, we don’t mean city break stag dos where the only priority is how cheap the beer is).
Craft beer is on the up, but there’s also a growing appreciation for cocktails. You can’t go to Singapore without a visit to Raffles to try the Singapore Sling, and it would be rude not to order a caipirinha when in Brazil. The best cocktail bars (in our opinion) are the ones that give you a sense of place, through both the design of the space, and the use of local ingredients across the menu.
If you’re also a big fan of fruity concoctions but aren’t sure where to start on planning your next trip, you might just want to check out the Pinnacle Guide, a list of the world’s greatest cocktail bars that launched last year.
Similar to the Michelin-star system, the Pinnacle Guide awards pins to bars it evaluates – one pin for excellent, two for outstanding, and three for exceptional – with 146 pinned bars to date, including 61 that were recently added to the list.
For our UK readers, 12 new bars were awarded either one or two pins, including ten in London. The bars outside of London that were recognised were The Hideout in Bath and the Tom Thumb Cocktail Bar in Newquay, Cornwall.
Stateside, 12 new bars made the list, including The Roosevelt Room in Austin, Texas and Standby in Detroit. Canada also made its debut on the list, with seven bars making the cut.
