Astrotourism is one of travel’s biggest buzzwords in 2025, and heading to a destination in search of clear skies or celestial events doesn’t seem to be going away any time soon.

And one of the latest places to flex their stargazing credentials is Tucson in Arizona, with the city unveiling a brand new astro trail.

Highlighting all dark-sky related places in Tucson, the trail includes a mix of planetariums, observatories and museums as well as Saguaro National Park, which has been certified as an Urban Night Sky Place by DarkSky International. Other parks on the trail include Kartchner Caverns State Park and Oracle State Park.

Stargazing fans are encouraged to visit Kitt Peak National Observatory, as it is home to one of the largest arrays of optical and radio telescopes in the world; Steward Observatory, which is listed on the National Register of Historic Places; and Flandrau Science Center & Planetarium, which features a full-dome digital projection system.

“This trail makes it easy for everyone to experience the best Tucson has to offer in terms of dark skies whether they’re serious astronomers or casual stargazers,” Felipe Garcia, Visit Tucson’s President and CEO said.

“Tucson is one of the Astronomy capitals of the world alongside the Atacama Desert in Chile and we want everyone to find a way to connect with the stars here.”

Visitors can sign up for the Tuscon Astro Trail digital passport and sign in when visiting the various stops. For each stop, you will collect points, which can then be used for rewards such as a branded adventure water bottle.
