Now that it’s August, lavender season is officially over in the UK. But don’t fret, because as one flower is harvested, another blooms, and now it’s time for sunflowers.

Looking to wander among the towering blooms yourself? Here are seven sunflower fields to visit across the UK this summer.

Garson Farm, Surrey

One for our London-based readers, Garson Farm is just over an hour out of the city in Surrey’s Esher. The farm offers visitors the chance to pick their own fruit, veg and flowers between June and October, depending on what’s due for harvesting. Between July and September, that means sunflowers and dahlias as well as strawberries, blackcurrants, raspberries and more. And yes, you can go pumpkin picking here in October, although it’s more picking out pumpkins than actual picking as the farmers move them into a smaller area so you can select your favourite, rather than toiling in the fields…

Hitchin Lavender, Hertfordshire

While this spot is better known for its lavender fields (it is in the name, after all), Hitchin Lavender is also home to a field of blooming sunflowers. You can wander among the towering flowers snapping photos, or pick your own to take with you – you’ll be charged by the stem.
