Wanderlust magazine

Wanderlust is the UK’s leading travel magazine, taking the road less travelled since 1993. Paul Morrison and Lyn Hughes schemed the project on a flight to Ecuador, aspiring to produce a publication that combined the right mix of wildlife, activities and cultural insight. Under new management since 2020, Wanderlust has expanded rapidly to add further themes to its editorial focus, such as history, archaeology and urban destinations, while continuing to strengthen its commitment to responsible, conscious and sustainable travel. It is now available in the USA, Canada and in over 70 countries around the world. With a strong and rapidly growing digital presence, wanderlustmagazine.com delivers thousands of articles and attracts over 12 million visitors a year, alongside 180,000+ social media followers. ‘The Wanderlust Club’ also maintains a community of serious travellers engaged 24/7.

Wanderlust’s blend of exclusive features, practical reviews, unique insights, tips and ideas has won awards from respected industry bodies across the planet.

Wanderlust is now the most-read UK travel magazine with the highest average circulation across and print and digital, and continues to pioneer coverage of authentic, responsible and sustainable travel.

Travelling greener

Responsible, conscious and sustainable travel is at the heart of everything we do.

In 2023 we launched our Travel Green List. This annual list will look at what’s fresh and inspiring in sustainable travel, and the only list of its kind in the industry.

In our coverage: we don’t cover large-scale cruise travel, Airbnb-style accommodation or all-inclusive beach, golf or ski breaks; we don’t focus on hotspots, ‘tourist traps’ or places that suffer from overtourism; and we have a sustainability editor overseeing all our editorial coverage and external activities when it comes to sustainable travel.

Internally: our magazine is printed on sustainable paper; we’re working on making our website carbon neutral, including monitoring our servers’ emissions; and we offset all carbon emissions generated from travel by our commissioned writers and staff on an annual basis.

Diversity in travel writing matters

Since 2020, Wanderlust has committed to working on commissioning at least 20% of its content from travel writers from underrepresented backgrounds and historically underrepresented groups. These include members of Indigenous communities, people of colour, LGBTQIA+ activists, people with health conditions or impairments, and people from disadvantaged socio-economic backgrounds. We want everyone to share their passion for travel with our readers!
