1. Join a tour

Take a free guided gander at the Sheikh Zayid Grand Mosque, one of the largest in the world. Tours 10am, Sat-Thu

2. Lap up luxury

Public areas of the Emirates Palace Hotel act as galleries for world-class exhibitions.

3. Promenade

Stroll the newly extended Corniche: walkways hug the coast, giving stunning views of the skyline and fiery sunsets.

4. Free gigs

Several hotels are free live music venues – check out Trader Vics at the Rotana, Tavern pub at the Sheraton Corniche or jazz at Hilton International.

5. Appreciate art

The Cultural Foundation is the artistic centre of the city. Open daily

6. Spectate for free

Head to the Corniche for annual dhow races (February), Red Bull Air Race (March), powerboat racing (November) and jet skiing (year round).

7. Coo at cars

The National Auto Museum, on the road to Liwa Oasis, is one of the world’s most eclectic collections of vehicles; open 8am-5pm daily.
