From the Editor: The best from myWanderlust this week

What are you doing reading this? Seriously? Haven’t you got Christmas shopping to do?

There weren’t quite virtual tumbleweeds rolling through myWanderlust this week. But it was somnolent enough for the redoubtable Liz Cleere to ponder where everyone was.

Last minute Christmas shopping is my guess. Indeed, Liz and her partner Jamie, were busy hitting the high street of Cochin for a bit of festive spending. Liz’s account of fighting nun’s for the last bit of tinsel is required reading, of course. And Jamie’s pics are both colourful and evocative. I know where I’m going to do my Christmas shopping next year.

I also know where Rhoda1 is. She’s back. And handing out tips and advice gleaned from her recent trip to the subcontinent. Pop over to just back from for her inimitable views on Kolkata, Assam and Nagaland, Bhutan, Darjeeling and Bangladesh. LaurenAmelia has the scoop on getting to Sighisoara in Transylvania and treacleminer has tips on visiting the Cha Das Caldeiras on Cape Verde.

Over at experiences, ColinO continues his West Coast odyssey, taking us into corners of LA that most of us would avoid. It’s a hard job, but somebody has to do it. He hasn’t been to the Black Crowes gig yet, but I’m sure that’ll get a post all of its own.

Beccs is busy doing her bit to revive Greek tourism with two evocative pieces about the delights of her adopted home – one about Delphi, the navel of the universe, and another about a cocktail bar in Athens. She may just save the Euro single-handedly!

Things are much more lively over at photography. Indeed, it’s all rather jolly. Jamie Furlong, Peterj2002 and Liz Cleere have all fashioned their own Christmas greetings. Liz’s suggesting that she may have spent just a little too long cooped up on her boat recently. BilboBaggins and Mik supply more traditional pics, of a robin and snow, respectively. While Scott Bennett ramps the colour and spectacle right up with a selection of dazzling photos from Toronto’s Caribana.

Finally, I’d just like to take this opportunity to wish everyone on myWanderlust a very merry festive season. And to thank you all for your fantastic contributions over the past year. The time and effort taken shows in the high quality of your posts. And each is truly appreciated. Again, thank you.

And on that note, I’m out of here. I’ve got some last minute Christmas shopping to do. And my flight for Cochin leaves in an hour…
