With Canada as our destination of the month, we’ve been telling you all the best places to visit, from Vancouver and Montréal to Banff National Park and British Columbia, and covering everything from festivals to Indigenous-led tourism.
And now there’s yet another reason to visit, as Air Canada has just restarted direct flights between London and Ottawa.
There will now be four weekly flights between London Heathrow and Canada’s capital, operating on Mondays, Wednesdays, Thursdays and Saturdays.
Flights will depart London at 12.40pm, landing in Canada at 3.10pm local time. The return leg of the journey departs at 6.55pm, arriving back in the UK at 6.30am the next day.
The Honourable Stan Cho, Ontario Minister of Tourism, Culture and Gaming, said, “Air Canada’s revival of direct flights between London, UK and Ottawa reinforces our ties with a valued international partner and marks a new chapter in connecting two vibrant capitals, offering endless opportunities for international travellers to explore Ontario’s world-class tourism, rich and diverse culture and dynamic attractions.”
The city has plenty to offer travellers, whether you’re into art and culture, food and drink or adventure. Cultural highlights include the National Gallery of Canada and the Canadian Museum of History, while foodies will want to try poutine and other local delicacies at ByWard Market. In the summer, you can kayak down Rideau Canal, while in the winter you can go ice skating here.
Air Canada operates flights between London Heathrow and five other Canadian cities: Toronto, Montréal, Vancouver, Calgary and Halifax.
