Alaska Airlines has just unveiled a new look inspired by the northern lights.

Set to debut in January, with all Dreamliners featuring the new design by spring, the livery features a mix of deep midnight blues and emerald greens, with a horizontal stripe along the fuselage as a nod to the airline’s liveries from the 70s and 80s to “bridge our past to our future”.

The new livery comes as the airline announces new direct flights from Seattle to London Heathrow, Reykjavik in Iceland and Rome.

Andrew Harrison, Alaska Airlines chief commercial officer, said, “Our new 787 exterior embodies Alaska’s transition to a global airline with beauty, grace and a nod to our heritage. As we significantly expand to new destinations around the globe, we’re eager for more and more travellers to recognize our new livery as being Alaska Airlines and appreciate the outstanding service we’ve long been known for.”

Both the London and Reykjavik flights are set to launch in spring 2026. Alaska Airlines will fly to London Heathrow daily, while Iceland flights are set to be daily during the summer season.

Flights for both routes are set to go on sale this autumn.
