Jules Verne’s Around the World in 80 Days inspired generations of people to attempt a circumnavigation of the globe in their own weird and wonderful ways, from ships and planes to running and cycling.
And if you’re looking to complete the feat at a more leisurely pace (and with a lot less effort on your part), we have good news, as Adventures By Train is launching a new Around the World by Train in 100 Days tour.
Launching 17 March, 2026, 12 passengers will set off from London, making their way through 14 countries: France, Switzerland, Austria, Hungary, Romania, Bulgaria, Türkiye, Georgia, Azerbaijan, Kazakhstan, China, Japan, Canada and the USA.
Featuring some of the world’s most iconic rail routes, you’ll enjoy an Orient Express-inspired journey through Istanbul, China’s high-speed rail to Xian, and Amtrak’s California Zephyr through the Rockies.
While most of the journey will take place by rail, you’ll also travel by boat, with a 23-day cruise aboard the Viking Venus between Tokyo and Vancouver, and a seven-night Atlantic crossing aboard the Queen Mary 2 travelling from New York to Southampton.
Along the way, you’ll get to visit some of the world’s greatest sights, including China’s Terracotta Army, Istanbul’s Hagia Sophia mosque and the UNESCO World Heritage-listed Khiva in Uzbekistan. The itinerary includes a mix of cultural and foodie experiences, with wine tasting in Georgia’s Kakheti region and street food tours in Kyoto, plus a Turkish marbling workshop and a classic music concert in Vienna.

Plus, you’ll get to stay at iconic five-star hotels such as the Pera Palace in Istanbul, where Agatha Christie wrote Murder on the Orient Express, The Langham New York Fifth Avenue and The Fairmont Peace Hotel in Shanghai.
And that’s before we get onto all the sights from your seat, with the journey encompassing scenery ranging from canyons and mountain ranges to glaciers and national parks.
Wondering how on earth to pack for a 100-day trip? As lightly as possible, because you’ll need to make use of overhead racks for your luggage storage along the way. Thankfully, laundry services will be covered at hotels, with US$100 allocated per person per hotel stay.
Jim Louth, director at Adventures By Train, said, “The launch of Adventures By Train is the result of many years spent fine-tuning the very best rail journeys globally. Our new Around the World in 100 days trip provides the perfect mix of world-class rail travel with hand-picked immersive experiences in optimum comfort. With a departure date of 17 March 2026, and just 12 spaces available, we are already seeing unprecedented demand.”
The trip is priced at £112,900 per person, with a couple’s discount to £89,950 per person based on two sharing. That includes all accommodation, meals in the itinerary, first-class rail travel for daytime routes and private sleepers for overnight trips, cruise ship voyages and ferries, guided sightseeing tours, transfers and all entry fees for the sites listed in the itinerary.
Can’t spare 100 days to travel? Adventures by Train also do shorter itineraries, including a 13-day Jakarta to Bali trip, a 16-day Shanghai to Bangkok itinerary, and a 25-day Buenos Aires to Lima route.
