Don’t miss Bradt’s Latin America Travel Festival this weekend Don’t miss Bradt’s Latin America Travel Festival this weekend
To mark the centenary of the legendary South America Handbook, Bradt are throwing a Latin America Travel Festival this weekend – and you can still get tickets.
Taking place on 8 November, the event at London’s Royal Geographic Society will bring together some of the biggest names in travel who will be sharing their insider tips for making the most out of your next trip.
Race Across the World winner Emon Choudhury and runner-up Mary Ellen Moriarty will be sharing their insights on what travelling across South America without a phone or modern luxuries taught them about the importance of the journey and the people you met along the way; while documentary filmmaker Rory Jackson will be sharing what it was like to live with the Waimaha for Bruce Parry’s Tribe.
Other speakers include photographer Nori Jemil, who will be sharing her tips on how to get the perfect shot; Simon Calder, who will chair a panel on 100 Years of the South American Handbook featuring Hilary Bradt, Ben Box and Victor Bulmer-Thomas; and marine biologist and broadcaster Monty Halls, who will talk about the marine environment of the region based on his expeditions in Brazil, Belize and the Galapagos.
There will also be talks on where to go when in South America, as well as how to stay healthy while visiting.
Plus, you’ll have the chance to say hello to the Wanderlust team, as Founding Editor Lyn Hughes will be there running a panel on looking at Latin America’s most exciting rail journeys. Joined by Jack Lown from Wendy Wu Tours, Chris Rendell-Dunn from Journey Latin America, and Shafik Meghji, Wanderlust contributor and author of Small Earthquakes: A Journey Through Lost British History in South America, this is one you won’t want to miss.
Tickets are available now through the Bradt website, with two-for-one entry. Wanderlust subscribers also get an extra £5 off – head to the Club Page for all the details.
