Race Across the World is set to return later this week for the third celebrity series.

This time around, the four celebrity duos will start their journey on the Caribbean Island of Isla Mujeres, the most eastern point of Mexico, and will have to travel 5,900km to reach the Península de La Guajira in Colombia, the gateway to South America.

Celebrities taking part include broadcaster and writer Anita Rani and her dad, Bal; actor Dylan Llewellyn, best known as James in Derry Girls, and his mum, Jackie; DJ Tyler West and his partner, actress and singer, Molly Rainford; and broadcaster Roman Kemp and his sister, singer-songwriter, Harleymoon.

There will be six episodes broadcasting on Thursdays at 8pm on BBC One from 6 November onwards.

If you’re not familiar with Race Across the World, the show sees pairs of contestants attempt to travel between checkpoints sans phones and credit cards. They can travel by any means of transport, bar planes, and the only money they have access to is the equivalent of the plane ticket price between the start and end point.

The previous two series of Celebrity Race Across the World were won by weather presenter Alex Beresford and his father Noel Beresford (series one) and Scott Mills and his husband Sam Vaughan (series two).

Tim Harcourt, Chief Creative Officer at Studio Lambert which produces the series, said, “The series’ success is a testament to how much audiences connect with the show’s raw emotion, incredible journeys, and heartfelt human stories.

“This series brings a new set of celebrities into that world and what makes it so special is watching them open up, bond, and grow through a life-changing experience. It’s inspiring, unpredictable, and full of those powerful moments that have made the format such a hit with viewers.”

Series five of Race Across the World aired in April this year. You can watch the previous series on BBC iPlayer.
