Long gone are the days when solo travel meant moving from hostel to hostel with all your worldly belongings crammed into a 65L rucksack. Move over, budget backpackers, because luxury travellers are taking the world by storm on their own terms.

If you count yourself among the increasing number of women who are travelling solo – whether you’re single or just choosing to do so – but don’t want to compromise on comfort, we have good news, because a new members-only community for midlife women has just launched.

Club Avandra members will be able to book onto one-of-a-kind trips, with the debut journey taking ten women to Malta where they will learn about the island’s rich history and renowned hospitality while staying in luxury properties.

Other destinations on the calendar for next year include Jordan, Marrakech in Morocco, Verbier in Switzerland, Galicia in Spain and Helsinki in Finland, with each trip led by a location or luxury travel expert. For example, those headed to the Finnish capital will be joined by wellness pioneer Marja Putkitso, while the Galicia trip will be a wine-filled adventure with bestselling author Kathy Lette.

Aside from small-group trips, members will have access to exclusive monthly editorial content from lifestyle director Marianne Jones (who will also be joining the journey to Malta), insider travel content, regular events and a private chat space.

Aimed at self-described SWANs (sorted, worldly and no s***s given), Club Avandra’s lifestyle director Marianne Jones said, “Club Avandra fills a gap we have long known existed – for a community of SWANs who are done with travel compromises and want to discover the world stress-free, in style and solo without feeling lonely.”
