A new sleeper train connecting Amsterdam and Brussels to Milan is set to launch next year.

European Sleeper’s latest route will see the locomotive start the journey in two, with the separate trains departing from Amsterdam and Brussels and then reconnecting in western Germany before stopping in Cologne.

The train will then pass through Switzerland, with expected stops including Bern and Brig, before reaching Stresa on Lago Maggiore in Italy and its final destination of Milan.

The route follows the historic Simplon route, with early morning views of Alpine valleys and serene lakes (or evening views, should you be travelling in the reverse direction).

The first departure is scheduled for 18 June 2026, with the route set to operate three times a week on Monday, Thursday and Saturday evenings. The return service from Milan will be on Wednesday, Friday and Sunday evenings.

European Sleeper already operates a route connecting Brussels, Amsterdam, Berlin, Dresden and Prague three times a week, and plans to revive the Paris to Berlin journey from March 2026.

The Dutch operator also intends to launch a night train to Barcelona at some point in 2027 or 2028.
