You can now travel the Amazon River virtually as part of a new tourism initiative that aims to emotionally connect travellers with Brazil’s magnificent natural parks. The immersive new portal will highlight seven diverse itineraries around the parks, launching with the Rota das Emoções (Route of Emotions) and the Central Amazon.
The former takes in the UNESCO-listed Lençóis Maranhenses National Park’s ruffled tapestry of white-sand dunes and crystal-clear lagoons, the idyllic Atlantic coastline of Jericoacoara National Park and the Parnaíba Delta Environmental Preservation Area, the only open sea delta in the Americas.

Contrasting with this 900km coastal journey, the Central Amazon adventure plunges into the tangled trails and river archipelagos of the world’s largest rainforest. Anavilhanas and Jaú National Parks, Mamirauá Sustainable Development Reserve and Adolpho Ducke Forestal Reserve are included – alongside tips on Amazonian cuisine and spotting pink river dolphins by canoe.
Placing the conservation of Brazil’s extraordinary environment and rich indigenous culture at the forefront of travel to the Latin American powerhouse, the website will soon feature five more itineraries.

· Cerrado’s Parks will include the mossy cliffs and crashing waterfalls of gems such as mystical Chapada dos Veadeiros National Park.
· Peabiru’s Paths Parks will follow ancestral trails on a spiritual journey including the surreal sandstone formations of Vila Velha State Park.
· South Canyon Parks will explore the highland plateaus, plunging valleys and adventurous activities of dramatic reserves such as Serra Geral National Park.
· Between Sea and Mountains Parks will curate the finest natural destinations around Rio de Janeiro, including the forested massif of Tijuca National Park.
· Capixaba Mountains Parks will combine impressive peaks and regional cuisine across eastern Espírito Santo and Minas Gerais, for example at Caparaó National Park.
