The world’s first hotel built entirely out of ice and snow has just reopened its doors in Sweden.

Now in its 36th year, ICEHOTEL in Jukkasjärvi spans some 2,800 sq m, and features an entirely new design each season. Inside, there are 12 art suites, each created by artists from around the globe.

Suites this year include Soap Bubbles, which features a child’s face emerging from one wall and blowing bubbles with a hand holding a bubble stick at the head of the bed, and Survival of the Fittest, which has been inspired by tardigrades, the micro-animals that are some of the most resilient on earth.

Other highlights for the 2025-26 season include a full-scale grand piano made of ice that will be played throughout the winter season, and an Arctic Archive, consisting of stories frozen in ice.

Marie Herrey, CEO of ICEHOTEL, said, “At ICEHOTEL, guests truly become part of nature. Sleeping among art made of ice and snow, feeling the cold and the deep silence, or standing on the frozen Torne River watching the stars and the Northern Lights — something happens inside you. These are the moments we hope our guests bring home with them: quiet, beautiful, unforgettable.”

ICEHOTEL was founded by Yngve Bergqvist, and now also includes ICEHOTEL 365, which is open year-round. Last month, ICEBAR by ICEHOTEL opened in Copenhagen, and the group also plans to expand to London in 2026.
