The health benefits of spending time in nature are well known, and we should all be trying to stop and smell the roses every chance we get (assuming you don’t suffer from hay fever, that is).

And visitors to Luxembourg over the next few months will have plenty of opportunities to do just that thanks to the Urban Garden festival (LUGA).

Taking place until 18 October, visitors can discover Luxembourg City through a number of scenic trails in four main locations: Pétrusse Valley, Alzette Valley, the Municipal Park and Kirchberg (best known as the European Parliament’s Luxembourg hub).

Along the way, you’ll discover art works such as The Living Pyramid by Hungarian visual artist Agnes Denes, and the Garden of Multilingualism, designed by landscape architect Michel Desvigne.

The city has also opened the historic Aquatunnel to the public for the first time, where you can discover the immersive installation The Lower World from sound artist Suzan Philipsz.

Outside of the capital, there will also be green spaces to discover in the Nordstad in the city of Ettelbruck. There, the focus will be on agriculture, with a corn maize, hydroponic farm and aquaponic garden for you to visit.

You can also discover Luxembourg’s food and drink scene through the LUGA Gastronomy Trail, which includes café Mikrokosmos in the municipal park, wine bar Bonne Nouvelle, BAC Cocktail Bar, OekoSoph restaurant, and craft brewery Big Beer Company. Each of the spots offers Luxembourgish beverages and dishes with locally sourced ingredients.
