Loved Ocean with David Attenborough? Or Blue Planet? Couldn’t tear your eyes away from My Octopus Teacher? We have good news – the Ocean Film Festival is returning to the UK this autumn.

Now in its 12th UK edition, the Ocean Film Festival was first launched in Australia with the aim of inspiring people to enjoy, explore and protect the oceans.

Highlights at this year’s event include short films and documentaries such as Let Me Live, which follows British surfer Tom Lowe’s rise to fame, Aquaballet, starring freediver Marianne Aventurier, and Diving into the Darkness, which focuses on the life of cave diver Jill Heinerth, complete with interviews and flashbacks.

“The Ocean Film Festival is more than just a film event; it’s a celebration of our planet’s blue heart,” says tour director Nell Teasdale.

“The festival aims to inspire a deeper connection with the sea, offering a deep dive into the heart of our oceans and the lives of those who cherish them.”

The Ocean Film Festival kicks off in Edinburgh on 6 September, with screenings in theatres across the country including Bath, Bristol, Brighton, Exeter, Leeds and London. The tour will end on 22 November with a showing in Norwich.
