Rocky Mountaineer is set to launch a new route taking in the Canadian Rockies – but you’ll only be able to enjoy it on selected dates next year.

The new route, dubbed Passage to the Peaks, takes in both the mountains of Banff National Park and Jasper National Park as well as the lakeside landscapes of Kamloops. Rocky Mountaineer’s current routes take in either Banff or Jasper, rather than both.

Launched to coincide with the FIFA World Cup taking place in Vancouver, Passage to the Peaks will be available to book on select dates in June and July 2026.

Various itineraries are available, including a two-day journey with an overnight in Kamloops. For those looking for a longer vacation, book in for the 10-day trip which includes time in Edmonton, Alberta’s capital, Lake Louise, and Calgary.

If you’ve yet to experience Banff National Park, you are in for a treat. Canada’s first national park, having been established in 1885, features glaciers, mountain peaks, hot springs and plenty of wildlife including grizzly bears, wolves and cougars.

Similarly, Jasper National Park is known for its hiking trails, waterfalls and glaciers. Devastated by a wildfire in July 2024, Jasper is now welcoming back responsible tourists, and we included the destination in our 2025 Good to Go List.
