Simon Reeve’s latest travel series is set to premiere this weekend, and this time the adventurer is headed for Scandinavia.

Airing on BBC Two at 9pm on Sunday 18 May, Scandinavia with Simon Reeve is a three-part series. The first episode will cover the Arctic archipelago of Svalbard, the frozen wilderness of Lapland, and the border with Russia, while the second will see him traverse the fjords of Norway and Iceland.

The third will see him ‘uncover the surprising and sometimes shocking side of Sweden and Denmark, two of the happiest and wealthiest countries on earth’.

Speaking about the show in June last year when it was first announced, Reeve said, “Scandinavia is vast, rugged and one of the most beautiful regions on the planet. It’s much more than just flat-pack furniture, reliable cars and candles. I know we’ll find situations, people, landscapes and facts that make my jaw drop.”

Joanna Carr, News Controller, Long Form Commissioning, added: “Simon is incredibly skilful at uncovering a different side to the places he visits, and showing us people and cultures in a fresh light. I am excited to see what his adventures in this spectacular and fascinating region will reveal.”

Reeve’s most recent show, Wilderness, aired in January last year. The highest rated series on BBC Two since 2022, a second series has been commissioned. No airing date has been announced, but there will be four more episodes. In the first series, Reeve explored the Pacific Ocean’s Coral Triangle, Africa’s Congo Rainforest and Kalahari desert, and the Patagonia.
