All the new flight routes in 2025 you need to know about

With so much of the world to explore, it can be difficult to know where to begin. But looking for direct, or one-stop, flights narrows down your options considerably, making that decision just a little bit easier.

 

Thinking ahead to your travels this year, or even next? Here are all the new flights routes in 2025 to know about…

From the UK

Looking at long-haul destinations? British Airways relaunched flights to Malaysia’s capital Kuala Lumpur from London Heathrow in April. Closer to home, the UK’s flag carrier launched direct flights to Tbilisi, Georgia’s capital, at the end of March. New destinations set to be served this winter season include Rabat, Morocco (5 November) and Graz in Austria (21 November) – a city known for its Christmas markets.

 

Travellers dreaming of riding in the baskets of hot air balloons over Türkiye’s Cappadocia now have more ways to get there, thanks to the launch of a direct route from London Luton to Kayseri with Pegasus Airlines. This Turkish low-cost airline has also added flights to Gaziantep, Türkiye’s culinary capital.

 

Budget airline easyJet launched its first Sub-Saharan destination at the end of March, with a new route from London Gatwick to Cape Verde. Over the summer, it also launched a slew of new flights, including Birmingham-Gibraltar and Birmingham-Bordeaux, Bristol-Almeria and Bristol-Palermo, and Manchester-Milan Linate and Edinburgh-Milan Linate.

 

Those looking to explore Scandinavia and the Baltics should look to Norwegian, which has launched three new routes from the UK, including Riga, Latvia’s capital, and Norway’s Ålesund from London Gatwick, as well as CopenhagenDenmark’s capital, from Newcastle.

 

Amazingly, IndiGo has just become the first airline to provide a direct route between the north of England and India, with the launch of its Manchester-to-Mumbai route.

 

Virgin Atlantic is giving travellers more long-haul options, with the launch of flights to Riyadh in Saudi Arabia and Accra in Ghana. Those looking to explore the Americas can head to Toronto, the airline’s first Canadian route in more than a decade, as well as Cancún in Mexico from 19 October. All flights depart from London Heathrow.

 

Later on this year, Wizz Air will launch flights between London Gatwick and Albania’s capital Tirana (26 October). The airline already operates between Luton and Tirana.

From Europe

Looking to visit the Music City? Good news, as Aer Lingus has launched direct flights from Dublin to Nashville, Tennessee.

 

Discover Airlines has launched its second long-haul route, and now flies between Munich and Windhoek in Namibia.

 

From Amsterdam Schiphol, KLM launched a number of new routes this summer, including San Diego and Georgetown in Guyana from 4 June, with plans to launch a route to Hyderabad in India from 2 September.

 

TAP Air Portugal also resumed its flights between Lisbon and Manaus in Brazil.

 

Later this year, Turkish Airlines will launch flights between Istanbul and Phnom Penh, Cambodia’s capital (10 December).

From North America

United Airlines is launching a number of new routes this autumn, with daily flights to both Bangkok, Thailand and Ho Chi Minh City, Vietnam, from San Francisco and Los Angeles starting 26 October. From 11 December, the airline will launch direct flights to Adelaide, Australia. The airline also launched direct flights to Nuuk in Greenland for 2025, but the route runs exclusively during the summer months between June and September.

 

American Airlines is adding a new number of new routes to Mexico from Chicago this winter, including Mexico City (26 October) and Queretaro (18 December). The airline will also launch a new route between Philadelphia and Santo Domingo, Dominican Republic (18 December).

 

This winter, Air Canada is also expanding its connectivity with Latin America. From Montréal, travellers can visit Peru’s Lima (6 December) and Belize (8 December), from Toronto, you can head to Lima (5 December) and Puerto Escondido, Mexico (17 December), while from Vancouver you can visit Mexico’s Tepic (17 December). The airline also recently resumed flights between Ottawa and London Heathrow, and in June, flights launched between Montréal and Edinburgh.

From the Middle East

Those connecting to the rest of the world via the Middle East will have a number of new routes in 2025. From Dubai, Emirates has relaunched its service to Adelaide in Australia, operating daily.

 

If you’re yet to experience the newly opened Zayed International Airport in Abu Dhabi, Etihad Airways has given you plenty of excuses to with the launch of more than a dozen new routes. As of this summer, you can now fly to Atlanta; from 7 September, to Taipei, Taiwan; from 2 October, to Medan, Indonesia; from 3 October, to Phnom Penh, Cambodia; from 9 October, to Krabi and from 3 November to Chiang Mai, Thailand; from 1 November, to Tunis, Tunisia; from 3 November, to Hanoi, Vietnam and Hong Kong; and from 7 November, to Algiers, Algeria. After Wizz Air Abu Dhabi announced it was stopping all services, Etihad has also taken over a number of its most popular routes, launching flights to Medina, Saudi Arabia (9 November), Baku, Azerbaijan (2 March 2026), Yerevan, Armenia (9 March 2026), Tbilisi, Georgia (13 March 2026), Almaty, Kazakhstan and Bucharest, Romania (16 March 2026) and Tashkent, Uzbekistan (17 March 2026).

 

Another option for those headed to Australia, Qatar Airways will relaunch daily flights to Canberra from December 2025.
