Claire Dodd

Claire Dodd is a freelance travel writer, with a particular interest in the Americas, especially Canada. Since her first trip there over 15 years ago, she’s made it her mission to see and experience as much of the vast nation as possible. Her work has been featured in titles including The i, The Independent, Time Out, Lonely Planet, The Times, Cruise & Travel, TTG, Nat Geo, and more, and won numerous awards. Having previously lived in Vancouver, and spent substantial time in the Rocky and Coastal Mountains, she has a passion for the West. But her work exploring the culture of Indigenous nations, urban hubs and Canada’s pristine wildernesses has taken her across the breadth of the country – to the Northwest Territories, remote fly-in fishing lodges in the Ontario lakes, the prairies of Manitoba, Quebec’s bilingual cities, the legend-steeped shores of Haida Gwaii and more. Much of her work focuses on learning from and sharing the stories of Indigenous communities, as well as how visitors can responsibly access authentic Indigenous experiences.
