Who said you need to visit Japan to seek out spectacular cherry blossom?

In the US capital, 2022’s National Cherry Blossom Festival is taking place between 20 March to 17 April. This year marks the 110th anniversary of the gift of cherry blossom trees from the Mayor of Tokyo to Washington DC. As well as watching the city turn pink, the festival also promises a great line up of events.

Right on cue, the cherry blossom has reached full bloom across the city, with key viewing points at the National Mall including the Tidal Basin and Jefferson Memorial, Franklin Delano Roosevelt Memorial and the Martin Luther King, Jr. Memorial.

See below for a gallery of this years fabulous flowers, or you can even watch a live stream on their bloom cam.
